To extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word, is the mission of the Incarnate Word Foundation. In 2001 the foundation was privileged to support more than 80 agencies as they brought Jesus Christ to the community through their ministries. Our community partners heal the body, heal the mind, and heal the spirit.
What is crucial is not only the high quality of these agencies' efforts but also the kindness and understanding they give to those whom their efforts serve. The dignity of each person is paramount, and each individual is the embodiment of Jesus Christ. This is a core value of the Incarnate Word Foundation, and an expectation for each of the foundation's grantees.
More than a century ago the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, answered the call of Bishop Claude Dubuis: "Our Lord Jesus Christ, suffering in the multitudes, seeks relief at your hands." Today these agencies continue to heed that call and carry on this tradition of compassion by bringing the healing presence of Jesus Christ to those most in need in the new millennium.

Incarnate Word Foundation grants support programs that make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and communities. These programs promote spiritual, physical, and mental health so that healthy relationships among people and organizations can flourish. Although each of the grantees represent Jesus Christ's healing ministry, which encompasses all aspects of health, the four areas below represent the emphasis of the programs for which they received grants. A strong element of spirituality is integral to all the programs, for healthy minds, bodies, and relationships enrich the spirit.
Although not always oriented specifically to religious activities, these programs, with their Christian perspective, enhance the spirituality of participants by promoting healthy attitudes and behaviors.
